Acclaimed concert and stage artist John David Adams presents an afternoon program of works from the bass and baritone repertoire accompanied by Sean Fleming at the piano, with rarely-heard works of beauty, drama, and humor. Highlights include Mozart’s concert aria Per questa bella mano, K.612 for bass voice and string bass obbligato featuring guest artist James Adams of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Ravel’s Don Quichotte à Dulcinée, and John Duke’s powerful setting of Maine-born poet Edward Arlington Robinson’s Luke Havergal. Also on the program are classics by Purcell, Handel, Loewe, and Schubert, as well as English and American songs by Vaughan Williams, Ireland, Finzi, Bernstein, Hoiby, Bowles, Blitzstein, and Weill.
